Lejar vs the MyInvois Portal
The MyInvois Portal is HASiL's own e-invoicing platform, provided at no charge, and it is fully compliant by definition. HASiL describes it as designed especially for taxpayers who are not using a business system to issue e-Invoices. That is the honest dividing line: the portal files e-invoices, and Lejar keeps the books that produce them. If you issue a handful of invoices a month, the portal may be all you need.
The portal is a filing tool. It submits, views, cancels, rejects and prints e-invoices, and it does that well and for free. It does not hold a ledger, a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet, a bi-monthly SST-02 return, a bank reconciliation or an aged receivables list, because it was never meant to. In Lejar the e-invoice is generated from an invoice you already raised in your books, so the same figures are never keyed twice.
Why Malaysian teams pick Lejar
On the portal you enter each e-invoice yourself, either in the web form or by filling the prescribed Excel template and uploading it. Those figures also have to reach your books, so most businesses end up entering the same invoice a second time in a spreadsheet or an accounting package. In Lejar you raise the invoice once and the e-invoice is generated from it.
HASiL lists the portal’s functions as profile management and document management: submit, view, reject, cancel and print. There is no chart of accounts, no profit and loss statement or balance sheet, no bi-monthly SST-02 return, no bank reconciliation and no aged receivables. Those are what an accounting system is for, and they are what you still need at year end.
The portal does support batch upload, and it is a real feature: a pre-defined Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, up to 100 documents per file and 25 MB, with a ceiling of 1,000 draft documents per taxpayer at any one time. It still means someone maintains the spreadsheet, and a validation failure comes back as an error report to correct and re-upload.
The portal’s document search runs in windows: recent documents in a 10-day window within the last 31 days, all documents in a 31-day window within the past 2 years, and exports capped at 100 documents. That is sensible for a filing system. It is not how you would want to answer "what did this customer buy from us last year".
Submitting through the portal needs only your own MyTax role. Submitting through Lejar needs a one-time appointment of Iterate Ventures Sdn. Bhd. as your MyInvois intermediary, which is an extra step, and one some businesses will prefer not to take. HASiL also offers a sandbox environment for trying the portal before using it for real.
Lejar vs MyInvois Portal, side by side
On e-invoicing alone, price is not the difference between these two.
Batch upload is capped at 100 documents per file and 25 MB, with 1,000 drafts per taxpayer at a time.
A real difference worth knowing: a Lejar-submitted e-invoice is printed from Lejar, not from the portal.
A genuine portal edge: no intermediary appointment is involved.
Lejar vs MyInvois Portal: common questions
Is the MyInvois Portal really free?
Yes. HASiL's own FAQ describes the MyInvois Portal as an e-invoicing solution provided at no charge, accessible through the MyTax Portal. If e-invoice filing is genuinely all you need, it is a valid and complete answer, and Lejar's free plan is there for the same reason.
Can the MyInvois Portal handle more than one invoice at a time?
Yes. As well as entering an e-invoice in the portal form, you can download a pre-defined Microsoft Excel template and batch upload it. HASiL puts the limits at 100 documents per file, a total file size of 25 MB, and a maximum of 1,000 draft documents per taxpayer at any one time. Failed documents come back in an upload result to correct and re-upload.
So why would I pay for accounting software at all?
Because the portal files e-invoices and does not keep your accounts. It has no ledger, no profit and loss statement or balance sheet, no bi-monthly SST-02 return, no bank reconciliation and no aged receivables. HASiL describes the portal as designed especially for taxpayers who are not using a business system. If you already need books, the portal is one more place to type the same figures.
When is the portal the better choice?
When your invoice volume is low and your bookkeeping is simple enough that you are not maintaining a ledger anyway. A handful of invoices a month, entered once, filed and printed from the portal, costs nothing and is fully compliant. Lejar starts to pay for itself when the same figures would otherwise be entered twice, or when you need the SST-02, the bank reconciliation or the statements.
Do I need to appoint an intermediary to use the portal?
No, and that is a genuine advantage of the portal. It needs only your own MyTax role, such as Business Owner or Company Director / Organization Administrator. Submitting through Lejar involves a one-time appointment of Iterate Ventures Sdn. Bhd. as your MyInvois intermediary.
If I use Lejar, can I still print the e-invoice from the portal?
No. HASiL's FAQ states the portal's Print function is available for e-invoices submitted through the portal and is not available for e-invoices submitted through an ERP system or API. Lejar submits through the API and produces the customer's invoice PDF itself, so the document your customer receives comes from Lejar.
