How to use the MyInvois portal: a guide for small businesses

Written by the Lejar team4 min read

The MyInvois portal is LHDN's free platform for submitting e-invoices, and it suits a small business that has no accounting system yet. This guide explains how to use it, based on LHDN's official FAQ updated 4 September 2026 and the e-Invoice Specific Guideline Version 4.9 dated 7 September 2026, verified as of 10 October 2026.

What is the MyInvois portal?

The MyInvois portal is a platform LHDN provides free to every taxpayer. LHDN itself encourages businesses that do not yet use an invoicing system to start with it. There are two ways to submit e-invoices to LHDN: through the MyInvois portal, or through the API, for a business whose accounting system connects directly. You can use both, as long as no e-invoice is submitted twice.

How do I get into the portal?

You get in through your MyTax account at mytax.hasil.gov.my, the same official LHDN tax portal you use for income tax. After you log in to MyTax, choose MyInvois to enter the e-Invoice system. The first time, you must complete your taxpayer profile before you can issue e-invoices. The official portal guide, with full screenshots, is at myinvois.hasil.gov.my.

Submit e-invoices one at a time or in a batch

The portal supports two methods: fill in e-invoices one by one for single transactions, or upload a spreadsheet to process many transactions at once. For a shop with many small sales, the spreadsheet method saves time. LHDN’s technical limits, per the official FAQ (question 135): a maximum of 5MB per submission, 100 e-invoices per submission, and 300KB per e-invoice.

The consolidated e-invoice: the simplest monthly routine

For sales where the buyer does not ask for an e-invoice, you do not need to issue one per receipt. Collect all those sales for the month and submit one consolidated e-invoice within 7 calendar days after the month ends. For example, the consolidated e-invoice for July sales is due by 7 August.

Note: from 1 January 2026, any single transaction exceeding RM10,000 needs its own individual e-invoice, and some industries, such as motor vehicle sales and flight tickets, cannot use consolidated e-invoices at all. Both rules apply only after your relaxation period ends. For businesses with turnover up to RM5 million, that is after 31 December 2027. Until then, Specific Guideline section 16.2(a) lets you put these sales in your monthly consolidated e-invoice.

After you submit: validation and the QR code

The LHDN system validates every e-invoice you submit. A valid e-invoice carries a QR code. Scan it with any phone camera or QR scanner app to check that it is genuine. Keep the validated e-invoices with your business records.

System down? There is a rule for that

If the MyInvois system is down, you get 72 hours to submit your e-invoices after the system is back, per the official LHDN FAQ (question 143). As a portal user, check the portal from time to time until it is back online, then submit as usual.

When should I move from the portal to software?

The portal is good for a start, but you must fill in or upload every e-invoice by hand, and you still keep your sales records somewhere else. Once you have many transactions, accounting software that keeps your sales records and produces the e-invoice figures from the same records saves time. MyInvois e-invoicing is live in Lejar, free on every plan, including Free.
